• Leave the bandage on for at least 1-2 hours, no more.
• Cleanse gently: Once you remove the bandage, wash your hands thoroughly with mild antibacterial soap. Gently cleanse the tattooed area with lukewarm water, using your fingertips. Do not scrub or use a washcloth.
• Pat dry and air dry: After cleansing, pat the tattoo gently with a clean paper towel to dry. Let it air dry for a few minutes before proceeding.
• Apply a thin layer of ointment: You can buy a tattoo care ointment in advance. Here are some options you can choose from:
Apply 3–4 times a day: Aquaphor Healing Ointment CeraVe Healing Ointment (with ceramides + hyaluronic acid) Bepanthen Ointment (Panthenol 5%)
Apply 4–5 times a day (lighter creams): La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 Avene Cicalfate+ Cream Bioderma Cicabio Cream ✨ Always apply a very thin layer — just enough to lightly cover the tattoo without smothering it.
• Keep it clean: For the first few days, wash the tattoo gently 2-3 times a day with lukewarm water and mild soap. Always pat dry and reapply the ointment after each wash.
• Avoid picking or scratching: It's normal for your tattoo to itch during the healing process, but refrain from scratching or picking at it. Doing so can lead to scarring and damage the tattoo.
• Wear loose and breathable clothing: Choose clothing that won't rub against your tattoo, especially during the initial healing stage. Avoid tight or abrasive fabrics that may irritate the area.
• Keep it away from direct sunlight: Protect your tattoo from prolonged exposure to sunlight during the healing process. Once it's fully healed, always use sunscreen to prevent fading.
• Avoid soaking in water: For the first two weeks, avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, or soaking in baths to minimize the risk of infection.
• Avoid alcohol: During the healing process, it's important to abstain from alcohol consumption. Alcohol can thin the blood and potentially affect the healing of your tattoo. It's advisable to refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages until your tattoo is fully healed, which may take 2-4 weeks. This will help ensure the best possible outcome for your tattoo.
• No gym or intense physical activities: Refrain from activities that cause excessive sweating or friction on the tattoo for at least a week.
• Be patient: Tattoos take time to heal completely. It may take up to 2-4 weeks for your tattoo to fully heal and for the colors to settle.
• If you notice any issues: If you experience excessive redness, swelling, or signs of infection, consult a healthcare professional immediately.
